With this Ring

Valentine's Day seemed the perfect day to share a little treasure I came across while doing some Etsy.com shopping - it's a fabulous handmade sterling silver ring stamped like the bands that naturalists and biologists use to "band" wild birds for research.   The ring can be customized with the name of your spouse, the place where you were "banded" and the date.  I plan to order one for me and one for my husband and since we both love birds, it's even more befitting.

Oh Suzani

Suzani is defined, by wikipedia, as a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Suzani designs draw inspiration from colorful floral motifs, including leaves, vines and fruits, as well as sun and moon disks and occasionally birds and fish.
The word Suzani is from the Persian Suzan, meaning needle, and the art of making these textiles in Iran is called Suzankāri, meaning needlework.  Suzani designs have been gaining in popularity and have adapted effortlessly from the traditional textiles to beautiful home decor and accessories.

Shedding Light on Things

Recently I needed to find just the right table lamp for a client's living room, so while on my quest, I happened across quite a few choices that made me take note.
